My paintings involve the dissection of observation to learn more about learning. My deep appreciation of the classical tradition of painting keeps me rooted in technical skill and ideal messages, however my spirit is founded on the modern parallels of life, aesthetic, and emotion. I find inspiration in the landscape's poetry, the conditions of man and animal, the science, math, and reason of the interiors we create and inhabit, as well as concepts of abstract composition, light, tone and color. Learning in itself is what keeps me happy and my paintings carry the joy I have for the process of figuring out how to understand life visually and yet to have a vision that keeps the human spirit interested both intellectually and emotionally.
